Tip of the Day – Editing Clear Sky Silhouettes

Shooting a silhouette at sunset on a cloud-free day and want to add some interest to the image? Since you don’t have to worry about what your subject looks like – you can go a little crazy with the editing! Lots of contrast, completely fill in the dark areas with black and play with the white balance for cool colour shifts. Just make sure you shoot at a low ISO so the image doesn’t become too grainy when heavily edited.

Canon EOS 1D X, Canon EOS 24-70mm f/2.8L II @ 38mm, ISO 320, 1/400 sec, f/4
