Tip of the Day – Details with a Macro Lens
If you’re shooting a lot of detail shots – noses, paws, eyes – you’ll probably get a lot of use out of a macro lens. They can also be fiddly to nail the focus at the macro end of the focusing range especially with a moving subject, so make sure you’re definitely going to get some use out of one before committing. This is Canon’s 100mm Macro 2.8L lens, which is super sharp, but does struggle a little in heavily backlit situations.
