Understanding the effects of focal length on perspective comes in handy when photographing a small subject in front of a big background – like Indy the Miniature Poodle here in front of the Brisbane Gallery of Modern Art for my #tailsofbrisbane project. There are two options – placing the subject a long way out from the background and shooting with a telephoto lens (as in this example) or…. what? Can you guess?
