Barkjour was held in the gorgeous Provence countryside of southern France in August-September 2017. We stayed at an amazing renovated 11th century Chateau, enjoyed delicious gourmet meals from our very own Masterchef and shot at some amazing locations – including a 2000 year old Roman aqueduct, beautiful vineyards and gorgeous medieval villages!
I was joined by two world-renowned teachers and successful pet photographers – Kaylee Greer of Dog Breath Photography and Nicole Begley of Hair of the Dog. We immersed our students in five full days of learning about the business and art of pet photography.
This time, we headed to the ecological playground of Costa Rica. Our unique property featured beautiful views of the Pacific Ocean and Manuel Antonio National Park. Students were treated daily to wildlife sightings, ranging from from three-toed sloths to white-faced capuchin monkeys, along with hundreds of species of birds.
During our stay we worked closely with local pet rescue organisation, PAWS. Students met and photograph many dogs who had found new homes through the organisation and we also visited the shelter and worked with the dogs there at a stunning local river to photograph them for their adoption profiles. One of our wonderful attendees even ended up adopting a dog from the shelter!
Our first retreat with instructors Kaylee, Nicole and Charlotte took place in April 2016 in the sunny Catalonia region of Spain. We stayed in a stunning 11th century masia that had been extensively renovated and updated.
