Tip of the Day – Crisp and clean backlight
This image is the subject of the second editing tutorial in RealShoots Episode 9. In the 37-minute tutorial video, you can see step-by-step of how I brought this image to life by pushing light into the shadows, taming the highlights and addressing the white balance issues.
Despite the dramatic lighting and warm colour cast, I was also careful to edit the image so that Baxter’s whites looked white, and blacks looked black – this is always what I aim for when photographing black and white dogs.
